Fencing for agricultural

The agricultural market is the bulk-pallet market. Ranches and orchards buy fence by the pallet — full rolls of wire, bundles of T-posts, palletized energizers and insulators — and trucking is direct-to-section-line rather than residential-driveway delivery. Our agricultural-supply desk operates with bulk-trade pricing, dedicated takeoff support for high-tensile and electric-fence engineering, and freight booking through full-load and LTL carriers familiar with rural delivery (gates, mud, equipment access).

Substrates: woven wire (page wire) in cattle, sheep, goat, deer, and predator-exclusion configurations; barbed wire in 2-point and 4-point patterns; cattle panels (16′ rigid welded mesh for corrals and lots); high-tensile smooth wire (12.5-gauge Class 3, the modern energized-fence wire); horse-rail vinyl (PVC top rail over wood post structure); T-posts in 5′ to 8′ length. All wire products specified in Class 3 zinc (0.80 oz/ft²) — agricultural service life is 20+ years and ground-contact / livestock-rub conditions demand the higher coating weight.

Electric fence integration: rotational-grazing operations layer electric on permanent perimeter — solar or AC energizers, poly-wire or poly-tape for portable interior fence, bare 12.5-ga galvanized for permanent. Energizer sizing follows wire length and fence load (vegetation contact, soil conductivity, wet conditions). Our agricultural desk specs the full system, from energizer to ground rods to under-gate insulation tubes.

Livestock fencing applications:

Cattle (beef and dairy): 3-strand barbed wire for boundary, 5-strand high-tensile electric for rotational grazing, board fence 4-rail for handling areas. Standard cattle fence height 1.2–1.4 m.

Horses: board fence 4-rail (1.4 m) is the safety standard — no wire that can entangle. Electric high-tensile smooth is acceptable for rotational paddocks. Avoid barbed wire at all costs.

Sheep and goats: page wire 1.2 m with graduated mesh (smaller at bottom for lambs/kids, larger at top). Predator-resistant — coyote-proof requires buried mesh + electric topper.

Pigs: woven wire or electric multi-strand. Pigs root and require buried base or concrete trench at fence line. Strong gates with double-latching.

Crops (orchards, vineyards, market gardens): deer-exclusion mesh 2.4 m prevents browsing damage. Bird netting over berry rows. Rabbit-proof 600 mm buried mesh at vegetable plots.

Regional networks: Prairie ranches order in 5,000–50,000 LF runs delivered to ranch headquarters. Quebec dairy farms use European-style page wire patterns. Atlantic mixed farms split orders across cattle paddocks and orchards.

Fenced.ca supplies bulk wire, posts, insulators, and chargers; our installation crews handle large rural projects across all provinces with 48-hour delivery to most ag zones.
